Zodiac Songs: What Music Do The Signs Like?

zodiac music favorites

Introduction

When it comes to music, and the music we individually prefer to listen to, is there a trend in regards to zodiac signs? Well, in our opinion there certainly is. Sure, a person’s taste for music goes far beyond astrology, but there are some appealing patterns if we pay close attention.

In this article we provide musical preferences that can be found within each sign. We base our conclusions not only on their traits, but also on their elements. Combined with personal experience we came up with the list below. Even better, we provide a typical song as an example in case you’re curious about what they might be listening to at home. And if that’s not enough, the artists that sing the song do in fact have the same zodiac sign.

What Music Do The 12 Zodiac Signs Listen To?

1. Aries (Mar. 21 – Apr. 19)

Energetic

Aries people are often energetic and sometimes even impulsive. They need to do something with their energy, and they want to spend it in the best way possible. By showing no fear there’s almost nothing that can stand in their way. Once they reach their goal, this will boost their self-confidence. If they don’t reach their goal, they’ll probably think that the whole experience made them come out stronger.

Keep On Going

This being said, Aries people often prefer to listen to energetic music, like uplifting beats. If the lyrics boost their confidence, that’s even better. Often enough you’ll find them listening to something that motivates them to keep on going, whether pop or rock.

Lady Gaga

One artist that matches the above criteria is Lady Gaga. In fact, she’s an Aries herself. Energetic beats and self-confident lyrics can be found in a variety of her songs. We guess you all know the famous song “Pokerface”, with lyrics such as “No he can’t read my pokerface”. Energetic, fearless, confident, upbeat…sounds like an Aries to us.

2. Taurus (Apr. 20 – May 20)

Awaken Feelings

Taurus people love beauty, artistry, and they’re very ambitious. When they listen to music, they usually prefer something that matches their feelings. Something that sounds beautiful from the heart, something sensual. Or even better, a genre that connects them with nature and all the beauty there is to experience.

Individual Sound

Since they love artistry, they adore an individual sound. Something that’s not too futuristic, but a song from the heart. In many cases they don’t really care for an extreme dose of beats, or should we call it an “over the top” experiment. If an artist sticks with his or her own talents, Aries people are often interested in what they have to offer.

Enya

Our number 1 pick is definitely Enya. Pure, original and something that speaks to their feelings. Beauty and artistry are perfectly combined in her songs if you ask us. Besides all that, she’s a Taurus too. The words “Sail away” connects with both ambition and mother nature.

3. Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Interesting Lyrics

Gemini people are usually enthusiastic, social and intelligent. This intelligence usually makes them prefer in depth lyrics, or at least a song that tells something interesting. Since they often find something interesting to say, they prefer the same thing in a song.

High Pace

Their intelligence can sometimes result in many thoughts running through their heads, so a similar pace in music is highly appreciated. Think about hip hop or quick beats. That’ll get them excited for sure. Especially if the lyrics are worth listening to. For a Gemini there’s often no time for games, so make life worth living and enjoy the good times.

Tupac Shakur (2Pac)

Tupac Shakur (2Pac) is a Gemini himself, and his music matches this description almost perfectly. Not all Gemini’s listen to hip hop, but the pace of both music and lyrics will most likely grab their attention. The “no time for games” mentality is represented in many ways, like when he sings: “You gotta learn to hold ya own” in his song “Changes”.

4. Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Emotions And Feelings

Cancer people are often creative and imaginative. If something triggers their imagination, chances are they’ll like it. The same goes for songs. If a song makes them think of something, like past memories, they’ll probably love it. Their feelings need space and music can help to express them.

Past Memories

Besides their imagination, a Cancer can also be very emotional and romantic. They don’t mind to have feelings about the past, which can help to re-invent themselves. Like we said, past memories like childhood experiences or finished relationships makes their feelings come to life.

Ariana Grande

The song “No tears left to cry” by Ariana Grande describes a Cancer person just perfectly. Both emotion and imagination play a part, like for example her lyrics “We on another mentality”. And yes, Ariana is a Cancer herself.

5. Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

Dance Music

Just like Cancer, Leo people can be creative. Furthermore, they enjoy any moment that makes them feel awesome. Music can really lift them up which makes them passionate listeners. If they’re able to dance to the beat, that’s even better. Yes, these folks can dance the night away.

Making People Wonder “What’s Going On”

A Leo usually doesn’t lack confidence. They don’t mind attention either. That’s why they don’t mind showing their dance moves, especially if a particular song is packed with passion and contains a good vibe. These people want to swing and express their party mode. Being a little mysterious and making people wonder what’s going on, yes, that’s something a Leo likes as well.

Madonna

When combining dance moves and joy-expressing vibes, we’re certain that a lot of Leo’s enjoy a couple of Madonna songs. Not only is she a Leo herself, but her music can definitely get the party started. A song that could grab someone’s attention and has a mysterious feeling to it, would be “Beautiful Stranger”. For example, singing to the lyrics “I’ve had the taste for danger” could make people wonder what they mean exactly.

6. Virgo ( Aug. 23 – Sep. 22)

Meaningful Lyrics

A Virgo won’t be satisfied with lyrics out of the box. The more meaning they have, the better. A song should come close to reading a poem so to speak. If there is a lesson to be told to someone they appreciate, like giving love advise, they can sing to the lyrics in order to spread the word.

Friends And Lovers

Virgo’s put a lot of effort into friendships and relationships. They are kind and want the best for their loved ones. If a person is feeling down, they could search for that perfect song to start the “healing process”. Something that sounds calm but energetic is a good pick.

Amy Winehouse

“Our Day Will Come” by Amy Winehouse is our number 1 pick for a Virgo. The song expresses everything we listed above: Thoughtful lyrics, something to share with their loved ones, positive vibes, you get the idea. Words like “Think love and wear a smile” could come out of a Virgo’s mouth anytime. Amy is a Virgo herself, which defines her music to a certain extent.

7. Libra (Sep. 23 – Oct. 21)

Romantic

If you want to play a song for a Libra, try to find something romantic. Not only do they appreciate love in their life, they also enjoy being married and having “that special person” close to them. Their social behavior is often represented by meaningful and thankful lyrics.

Lyrics Of Love

Love, love, love…a Libra’s favorite. You probably already guessed it, the lyrics should be about love as well. They don’t mind showing their appreciation for their partner, or how much they enjoy to be loved back in return. As long as the music doesn’t interfere with the lyrics, it’s all fine.

Gwen Stefani

It’s no coincidence that Gwen Stefani is a Libra herself. Especially her solo career contains a good amount of love songs that come with a “relaxed” musical vibe. How about the words “I give you everything that I am” or “And I want to make it worth the fight”? Sounds like true love to us. The song is called “4 In The Morning”.

8. Scorpio (Oct. 22 – Nov. 21)

Brave With Emotions

Even though a Scorpio is able to enjoy a lot of different musical genres, most of the time they prefer something that puts a finger on their feelings. The more intense, the better. They’re not afraid of their feelings, and they don’t mind to think about them either. Their brave side needs an emotional escape from time to time.

Deep Lyrics

Life can be complex, and life needs something “underground” to make it interesting. We’re not saying they’re looking for a “bad guy” or “bad girl”, but they often have “a thing” for their appearance. Since they can be very passionate about a specific person, let’s try to find a song that combines emotions with meaningful lyrics.

P. Diddy

Not only is P. Diddy a Scorpio himself, he definitely has the talent and skills to make a Scorpio “click”. His brave appearance and deep lyrics should do the trick. Many of his awesome songs can match with a Scorpio, so it’s up to you to decide which song fits best. We decided to go for “I Need A Girl”. Lyrics like “I got it all, but I really need a wife, at home” describes both braveness and emotions in a single sentence. What else would a Scorpio want?

9. Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

Free Spirit

Being a free spirit, a Sagittarius often listens to world music. They are quite open minded which often results in listing to all kinds of music. Something they really appreciate is music that contains a good amount of energy. Something with a good beat that doesn’t go into the extremes.

Love Hurts

We’ve probably all been there, but love can definitely hurt. However, it’s also a lesson learnt and a new experience we need to deal with. After processing the experience, we must and will move on. A Sagittarius doesn’t mind an adventure, but they prefer to turn something negative into a positive vibe.

Miley Cyrus

In our opinion, a Sagittarius will probably love to listen to Miley Cyrus. Not simply because she’s a Sagittarius, but because she doesn’t mind singing about being a free spirit. If love hurts, she knows the right words to say in her song “Midnight Sky”. For example “I don’t need to be loved by you” will surely speak to the emotions of a Sagittarius.

10. Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

Music From The Past

Like we mentioned in our article about Capricorn traits, these people have a thing for past memories. Not only do they like to grab a few pictures from their youth, they also enjoy the music that relates to these moments. Even though they appreciate modern sounds and melodies, they often prefer to listen to something from a while back. Even music that their parents used to play when they were a child.

Vulnerable Feelings

A Capricorn is able to think deep, even if that brings back a good amount of past memories. Since these feelings can have an impact on their mood, they usually try to find a song that fits their current spirit. They can be quite vulnerable, which makes them look for lyrics that make them feel confident. Any impulse can trigger a specific musical preference, but usually that directs them towards emotional and moody tunes. Something meaningful with thoughtful lyrics is best, especially within the rock genre.

David Bowie

In our opinion, a lot of songs by David Bowie should match the taste of a Capricorn. And by the way, we’re not simply saying this because he’s a Capricorn himself. How about the song “Absolute Beginners”? It contains all the Capricorn ingredients, like emotions, feelings, vulnerability, and finding confidence in whatever it is they’re doing. Words like “I’m an absolute beginner, but I’m absolutely sane” sounds like their brain is speaking out loud. Definitely a confidence booster in an emotional moment!

11. Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

Rebellious

Let’s be a little different and make people think about stuff. These are just a few basic traits of many Aquarius people. Life is much bigger than the reality we seem to live in, so why not try something else? Something meaningful, something that’s a little uncommon to talk about. Being a rebellion isn’t always a bad thing, especially if you try to explain your rebellious feelings through lyrics.

Innovative

There’s always room for innovation. Why doing or believing the same thing over and over again? So many things are going on in this world, there has to be a way to get my message across. Let’s act a little “out of the box” and think about the future of mankind. Is everything really fine as it is? Or is there room for improvement? A lot of questions that could be stuck in an Aquarius mind.

Bob Marley

If someone has innovative music about world concerning topics, we have to pick Bob Marley for an Aquarius. Besides that, his music makes you think about a variety of topics and tries to broaden your mind. The song “Could You Be Loved” contains a few typical Aquarius thoughts, like “We’ve got a mind of our own” or “Don’t let them change ya”. Bob’s innovative sounds makes it all complete. He’s an Aquarius too, which shouldn’t be a surprise.

12. Pisces (Feb. 19 – Mar. 20)

Dreamy Artistry

Getting lost in a song that contains emotional and philosophical lyrics is what Pisces people usually adore. Music gives them the ability to escape reality and to live in their own fantasy for the time being. If a song makes them feel understood, they’ll probably put it on repeat to examine the lyrics in detail. Just to be sure.

Escaping Reality

Like we already mentioned, a Pisces likes to forget about the world and find that temporary bubble to live in. Something full of illusions and wonderful dreams matches them best. The deeper the meaning, the better. Even if it’s about feelings they’re struggling with. Let’s just play this song in order to get my message across, because I really need to use my escape card right now.

Leonard Cohen

Almost touching the hypnotic side, Leonard Cohen definitely knows how to speak to the world’s biggest dreamers. If a Pisces needs to lose himself (or herself) in a song, try to play one of Leonard’s tracks. A great example would be “Dance Me To The End Of Love”. It doesn’t get much better than that. “Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove” will speak to their imagination brilliantly.

Bonus: Ophiuchus (The 13th Sign)

Curiosity

Of course we wouldn’t finish this list without mentioning our good old friend Ophiuchus, also known as the 13th sign. Even though there’s an ongoing debate about it’s valuation, we believe there’s room for every person to live by this specific sign. We even made a video about Ophiuchus which is available on our website and on Youtube.

An Ophiuchus is often curious. He or she is willing to learn, always expanding their knowledge. So when it comes to music, there usually has to be “something to it”. If something sounds new or interesting, why not give it a go. And if the lyrics are well researched, sure, that’s even better. Let’s try to find out what the singer is trying to tell us.

Scorpio And Sagittarius In The Mix

Even though nothing is set in stone, an Ophiuchus is said to have both Scorpio and Sagittarius characteristics. In other words, they can be very brave whilst living in a free-spirited world. These traits are necessary to support their curiosity. Furthermore, deep lyrics about topics like love (and lessons to be learnt) can do the trick. So let’s find the perfect song for them.

Sia

If we combine the above, we need to look for an uplifting, powerful, brave, open-minded song. Something about love is a good choice, no matter in which context, as long as the “hero” feeling gets it’s share. The song “Elastic Heart” by Sia was the first song that came to our minds. Lyrics like “I’ve got thick skin and an elastic heart” or “I’m like a rubber band until you pull too hard” should make an Ophiuchus happy.

Zodiac Sign Songs And Elements

Now that we covered the signs and their musical preferences, there’s still a lot of information to be found inside their elements. As you probably know, there are 4 elements. Each element is assigned to 3 zodiac signs.

The elements can already give you a general idea of the musical genre a specific sign is interested in. If you’d like to discover more songs to play to your loved ones, feel free to understand these basics so you can do your own research:

Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): Music that contain a good amount of energy.

Earth (Taurus, Capricorn, Virgo): Music that touches the soul.

Air (Libra, Gemini, Aquarius): Music that’s not “out of the box”.

Water (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio): Music that covers emotions.

There are no set rules to stick to, but the above should give you a brief idea of what to look for in every element. Sure, there’s more to music than elements and signs, we’re all humans in the end with our own personal preferences. However, this should be a good start.

Conclusion

Even though every person listens to his or her own favorite songs, their zodiac sign often points into a certain musical direction. Nothing is set in stone, but certain traits and elements can influence their taste. The same goes for zodiac sign shoes. We compared their taste for shoes, but you can still find variations among the signs if you pay close attention.

In this article we explain exactly why we believe a specific sign leans towards a certain song. Sure, besides the examples we provide there’s a lot more to music. Most people have a couple of favorite bands or solo artists. We provide one example for each zodiac sign to keep things as easy as possible.

If you’d like to learn more about zodiac songs, try to learn the details about the elements first. If you combine the results with a person’s traits, you should be able to come up with a whole playlist. In case this sounds too complicated, just head on over to this website where they list more example songs. Or just do a little research and get inspired.
