Zodiac Sign Brains

Analyzing the Brain of Each Zodiac Sign

One of the most fascinating things about the Zodiac for is how it can predict the way we think.

Sure, there are exceptions and no one is bound by his or her Zodiac sign to think and act one way. That being said, for believers in this topic, it can be a fun mental roadmap.

So how does each of the signs’ brains work and what does that mean for their personalities?

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

The brain of an Aquarius is incredibly active when it comes to considering abstract concepts. These are some of the deepest thinkers and are given to calm, reasoned thought. Where for many deep reflection can lead to melancholy, Aquariuses trend towards positive thinking. That said, they are often shier about expressing their thoughts than others.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

For a Pisces, it’s all about emotional intelligence. Being able to intuit how people think and feel is at the root of how the brain of a Pisces works and what it concerns itself with the most. On the one hand, this makes Pisces very trusting, open-minded, and empathetic. On the other hand, this means that betrayals cut all the deeper.

For Pisces, interconnectivity is key. We’re not all just a collection of individuals but a big family. In group decision-making, Pisces tend to prioritize the many over the one.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

As the sign of the ram, it should come as no surprise that Aries tend to charge right into things, making them one of the most impulsive in the Zodiac club. That said, unlike other signs, that impulsiveness doesn’t always come at the cost of rationality. Aries tend to be very firm reasoners even if they are a bit stubborn about giving up their conclusions once they’ve been reached.

Aries are some of the most passionate and eager-minded of the Zodiac signs. The brain of an Aries thus requires constant stimulation or else it tends to bore easily.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

From the ram to the bull, it should come as no surprise that this is another stubborn sign.

Tauruses tend to prefer things good and tangible. They are definitely more inclined to be tactile learners. For them, seeing, touching, and experiencing the world with their senses is believing. That goes for relationships as well, making Tauruses among the most physically eager of the signs.

The brain of a Taurus is often caught between the desire to charge ahead and the need to be cautious. This can often tie back into physical evidence. Tauruses typically require more physical, tangible proof laid out for them before they draw conclusions about anything. This makes them rational, stable, dependable, and practical if a bit unimaginative at times as well.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

You’re talking for two here and so it should come as no surprise that the brain of a Gemini is geared towards communication. Where Tauruses tend to be tactile learners, Gemini often learn and grow most effectively when they are deep in conversation. If they say something aloud or hear it, there’s a good chance that they’ll remember it, far more so than if they simply take notes.

Gemini are supreme communicators, which tends to make them more geared towards social interaction than other signs. They are often funny, quick-witted, extroverted, and open to new ideas. Even if this means that they’re a bit less practical about evaluating or realizing them than other signs.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

This is the sign of a crab and that’s not just for show. Like their sign, Cancerians often have a hard outer shell. They lead rich interior lives and guard them fiercely. It often takes extra time, patience, and effort to “crack the shell” of a truly ardent Cancer.

All of this means that the brain of a Cancer tends to be more inward-, family-, and emotion-focused. When thinking over hard decisions, they are more likely to seek out the advice of close family and friends and are likewise more likely to prioritize their well-being. They tend to be cautious, empathetic, intuitive, introverted, and, given their inward focus, quite imaginative. However, their harder shell can make them shier about articulating that imagination than, say, a Gemini.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

It’s no secret that Leos are infamous for their strong personalities. They’re the lions of any social situation and one of the most dominance-minded of all the signs. On the one hand, this makes them fiercely determined even in the face of setbacks. On the other hand, it can lead them to embrace “I” over “We.”

Because of this, the brain of a Leo tends to be more individual-focused than others. They see the world as a collection of individuals. Their individualistic streak can make them very creative and passionate but it can also lead them to be arrogant and bossy. They are more likely to think of how close decisions will impact themselves and those they care about (as opposed to the group or society as a whole).

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

To the brain of a Virgo, life is a puzzle just waiting to be solved. There is a heavy emphasis on analytical and rational thought that can come at the cost of creative expression. They are more likely to think things through in a systematic, spontaneous way than make a spur-of-the-moment decision. While this can make Virgos seem aloof and distant, it belies an incredibly active mind geared towards logic, rationality, and unflinching criticism, including of themselves.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

The brain of a Libra is geared to see every side of every question, which is both its blessing and its curse. On the one hand, that makes them natural peacemakers. They are more likely to be empathetic and understanding and see where different sides are coming from on the same issue. Even if they don’t see it for themselves. On the other hand, this ability to see every side to a question can lead to them being more indecisive than other signs if they fail to commit to one side or another.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Here we have another hard-shelled Zodiac sign and, as with Cancerians, it can be hard to crack a Scorpio’s shell. Unlike Cancers, however, they are far more likely to go on the offensive. When backed into a corner, Scorpios don’t usually back down but instead gear up for conflict.

With that in mind, the brain of a Scorpio is built around offense and defense. They are likely to be strongly opinionated, willful, slow to trust others, and hesitant to embrace change. In the event that one does change them or get them on his or her side, however, a Scorpio can be fiercely loyal.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Sagittarius has the reputation of being the sign for life’s adventurers. These are the people who never seem to want to stay put in one place for very long. If this is positive, it’s because they’re just so full of joie de vivre. If it’s negative, it’s because they can’t commit or don’t feel comfortable in their surroundings.

The brain of a Sagittarius is thus built around this roaming lifestyle. They tend to think about things in terms of what’s interesting and exciting as opposed to what’s logical or feasible. They can be impulsive and have a strong creative and energetic streak to them. Though this can sometimes bely an inner sense of isolation and a need to be with others.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

These are the serious thinkers of the bunch. Ask Capricorns what they think of the Zodiac and they’ll likely scoff and say that it’s a bunch of nonsense. This belies their bent towards logical thinking, which is among the strongest of all the signs here.

A Capricorn tends to value intelligence and rational thought over impulsive emotionality. This doesn’t mean that they’re uncreative, just that they prefer their creative ventures to have structure and a consistent interior logic. They’re more inclined to prefer analyzing Shakespeare or Beethoven than, say, an overly abstract postmodern paint splatter. The brain of a Capricorn tends to be fixated on facts, logic, patterns, and the people closest to them.
